The next regular council meeting will be Monday, November 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lansdowne Council Chambers.

The Committee of Adjustment meets every 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 5 p.m. in the Lyndhurst Council Chambers.   The next regular meeting will be November 18, 2009. 

The Economic Development Committee meets every 3rd Wednesday of the Month.  The next meeting will be 18th of November at 5 p.m. in the Lansdowne Council Chambers.

The Fall and Winter Joint Recreation Guide in now available. Check your mailboxes and register early as many programs fill up fast! If you do not receive a guide in the mail, pick one up at the township offices, libraries, or Lou Jefferies Arena in Gananoque.

Public Meeting - Proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment

Take Notice, that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands will hold a public meeting on the 23rd day of November, 2009 at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers at the Lansdowne office to consider a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment  under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990

The purpose of the meeting is to consider the following application for amendment:

Learn About Your Drinking Water Source

Amnesty Card

The Township Leeds and the 1000 Islands Amnesty card is now available at any time during the year at either Municipal Office for $6.00.  The card is valid for one trip per year of large household items.  For further details please click here

General Fees and Rates Increase

At the March 9th Council meeting, Council passed 'By-law 09-014 - General Fees and Rates for Various Services Provided by the Municipality'.  As a result, some fees have been increased.    Effective immediately, waste labels are $15.00 for a book of 10.  Other fees have also increased.  To view the full by-law listing all the new rates please click here.

 

Committee Appointments

Eastern Ontario Broadband Coalition's

The Eastern Ontario Boadband Coalition has been working on a project to lower the initial capital investment costs required for internet Service Providers to provide broadband internet service in areas within the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville that have been determined to be under or un-serviced.  If you would like to learn more about this initive please click here

Offices and Waste Site Closing Early -

Both Municipal Offices and the Waste Sites will be closing at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 17th, 2009 for a staff function.

 
BURN BAN

The Township of Leeds and the 1000 Islands is currently in a burn ban situation which includes all open air brush burning and incinerators and the only exception will be if you have received a significant amount of rainfall in the previous 24 hours.

New Municipal Office/Roads Garage/Fire Hall
